Physics                                                                    Mr. Byrne

1)      Does a ball dropped out of a moving car take longer to reach the ground than one dropped from the same height from a car at rest?  Explain.

2)      Sketch the graph of the horizontal acceleration vs. time for an object thrown at 10 m/s at an angle of 30º above the ground, assuming no air resistance.

3)      An object is thrown at an angle of 40º above the horizontal.  How does its initial vertical velocity compare to its initial horizontal velocity?

4)      Draw the velocity and acceleration vectors for the projectile in the question above as it is approaching the ground.

5)      A projectile  is launched at 35º above the horizontal with an initial velocity of 20 m/s.

a) How high does it rise?

b) How long is it in the air?

c) How far does it travel horizontally?

d) How fast is it moving at the instant before it hits the ground?
